West Ham have been boosted in their hopes of signing Lyon winger Rachid Ghezzal, according to L’Equipe.
Sky Sports reported earlier in August that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed the Hammers had made a €8m (£6.9m) approach for the 24-year-old.
And now L’Equipe are reporting that the Algeria international has rejected a move to Everton.
It is not yet known whether this latest development could lead to a move to the Hammers, nor is it known whether the club’s initial offer was rejected or not.
Ghezzal impressed for Lyon last season, contributing eight goals and seven assists, but he currently has just one year remaining on his Parc Olympique Lyonnais contract.
Aulas confirmed earlier this month that the Ligue 1 club were hopeful of agreeing a contract extension with Ghezzal but it does appear that he is a lot closer to leaving the club than agreeing to extend his stay beyond the summer.
Transfermarkt.com value Ghezzal at just £4.68m.
