According to The Express, West Ham United have bid £17m for Jordan Pickford in a late attempt to bring the promising goalkeeper to the London Stadium.

Recent reports in the media had suggested that Everton were on the brink of sealing a £17m deal for Jordan Pickford but West Ham appear to have matched their bid.

With Adrian’s contract running out at the end of the season and an extension yet to be agreed, West Ham are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Darren Randolph has been in goal for much of this season and his displays have been riddled with errors whilst third choice Raphael Spiegel is clearly not up to standard.

West Ham have therefore made a late attempt to gazump Everton in their swoop for Pickford.

The 23-year-old has been the standout performer in a disappointing season for Sunderland.

With the Black Cats relegated to the Championship, the England international is set to leave this summer with a host of Premier League clubs chasing his signature.

In addition to wanting Pickford, The Express believe that West Ham will also move for his team mate Jermain Defoe.

The veteran forward scored his 14th goal of the season on the weekend and could return to East London.

The 34-year-old started his career with the Hammers and reports suggest that he will be offered a two year deal to return.
