On this day in 2016, former West Ham United forward Andy Carroll scored a hat-trick in an entertaining 3-3 draw against Arsenal.

The Hammers were all but defeated after 35 minutes of play after goals from Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez placed the Gunners into a commanding position.

However, Carroll netted twice in 160 seconds just before the half-time whistle – which included a stunning scissor-kick – to draw the Hammers level in spectacular fashion.

Seven minutes into the second half and the England striker completed his hat-trick, rising high at the back post to head Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina and send the Hammers fans into ecstasy.

Slaven Bilic’s side failed to hold onto what would have been one of the greatest Premier League comebacks witnessed at Upton Park after Laurent Koscielny equalised with 20 minutes to play.

It was a pulsating London derby in the final season at the Boleyn Ground, and West Ham posted Carroll’s goals on social media, which sparked plentiful reaction…
