According to The Sun, West Ham United could make a move for Chris Smalling this summer.

Chris Smalling’s future at Manchester United is looking bleak with Jose Mourinho ready to sell him and bring in a new face.

The England international enjoyed a very good 2015/16 season but this year has been plagued with injuries and a loss of form, which has seen him lose his place to Eric Bailly, Daley Blind, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo.

West Ham and West Brom are both monitoring his situation and preparing summer moves, according to this report.

The 27-year-old is being lined up by Slaven Bilic as he aims to improve West Ham’s defence while Tony Pulis wants Smalling to partner his former Man United team mate Jonny Evans at the back for the Baggies.

With a number of centre backs already on their books, West Ham would probably offload at least one of Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna, Declan Rice, Jose Fonte, Reece Oxford, Reece Burke and James Collins if this report is true.

However, if he stays injury free and rediscovers his best form, Chris Smalling could re-establish his hopes of a starting England spot and he might need to move away from Old Trafford to get the regular playing time.
