West Ham appear to be in the race for high-rated Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush, according to a report from Caught Offside.
The Egyptian has been in fine form for the Bundesliga outfit since the beginning of last season, scoring 26 goals and assisting a further 12 in 50 first team appearances since signing from Wolfsburg in July 2023.
The 25-year-old was allegedly being watched by the likes of West Ham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United over the weekend as Marmoush scored two and assisted another as Eintracht Frankfurt drew 3-3 with giants Bayern Munich.
A report from TEAMtalk last month tipped the forward, who can play anywhere across the front line of attack, to join either West Ham or Crystal Palace in January, despite interest from some of England’s biggest clubs.
Caught Offside’s report names West Ham as among the ‘teams to watch’ as interest in Marmoush seemingly increases following yet another dazzling performance, with Frankfurt reportedly willing to entertain offers in the region of €30m.
He has been dubbed the ‘new Mohamed Salah’ in Egypt, which is some name to live up to considering what the Liverpool forward has gone on to achieve in Italy, England and for his national team.
Marmoush’s form means he is likely to be near the top of the list of many big clubs’ wishlist, but it’s good to see that West Ham are in the conversation for what is clearly a top talent who would improve Julen Lopetegui’s attacking options.
It’s also not a surprise that we’re interested, given Tim Stiedten‘s extensive knowledge of the Bundesliga following spells at both Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen before he arrived in east London.
Meanwhile, there’s a chance that West Ham will be forced to sell Mohammed Kudus next summer, with Mahmoush seemingly lined up as a potential. replacement. Kudus has an £85m release clause in his contract and with the level of transfer spend the club has committed to over the last couple of years, selling a player for a big fee may be unnavoidable in order to satisfy profit and sustainability rules.
Marmoush also has six goals in 32 games for Egypt.
