West Ham continue to eye new defensive recruits ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League season and they have identified a target in the Championship.

The Daily Mail states recently relegated West Brom are bracing themselves for bids from West Ham and Burnley for the services of £20m-rated Craig Dawson.

28-year-old Dawson has been identified by the Hammers as an ideal defensive recruit following the injury setback sustained by Winston Reid, leaving the New Zealand international set to spend a lengthy period on the sidelines.

Manuel Pellegrini has already signed Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena to bolster his options at the back ahead of his debut campaign at the London Stadium but is looking to secure more depth for his squad.

Dawson has spent the last eight years with West Brom and boasts over 150 league appearances with the Baggies, which would provide West Ham with the experience they are looking for in the heart of defence.
