The season hasn’t even finished yet and already Hammers fans can’t wait to see the back of it. Another nine months of boring, mediocre football has passed us by yet again with only the three wins against Spurs raising anything resembling a smile for the West Ham faithful.

The lack of goals, as Big Sam has pointed out, has been instrumental in our poor results this season. Just forty goals scored so far simply isn’t enough. Luckily this was helped greatly by having the joint 7th best defence in the league, conceding only forty nine goals.

Our goal tally was massively effected by having Andy Carroll sidelined with a heel injury for two thirds of the season, plus our wingers and midfielders were not chipping in with their usual quota of goals.

Just seven goals from Kevin Nolan this term compared to ten last year and thirteen the year before (albeit in the Championship). So while everyone is camped out in front of their TV’s this summer watching the the World Cup, the pen pushers and string pullers at West Ham need to remove their fingers from their various orifices, and get to work removing the deadwood from our club, and bringing in some quality to improve the team, our league position, and the fans morale.

With Nocerino & Borriello already back in Italy, these two would need to be replaced. We have a lot of youngsters knocking at the first teams door and hopefully some of them could work their way into first team games next year. The likes of Turgott, Potts, Lee, Fanimo, Whitehead, Lletget, Driver and Chambers to name but a few. The future seems bright, but after the season we’ve just had, anything would be an improvement.

So who stays and who goes?
