Another poor performance at home. Another loss. Another weekend in the bottom three.

Is there an end to this torture we’re currently experiencing at the hands of Sam Allardyce and his “nine clean-sheets” excuse?

A poor first-half against Newcastle on Saturday left us with a mountain to climb in order to have any hope of sending the Geordies back up north with their tales between their legs. Not even a Carlton Cole inspired own goal from Mike Williamson could spark a fight back, despite a fairly spirited second-half display.

It was Cole and Andy Carroll‘s misses in the second-half that summed up our season so far. I am of the belief that both efforts would have been converted if we weren’t struggling for Premier League safety.

Before Saturday’s game there was a real element of optimism amongst West Ham fans, many of whom were half-expecting a result following the win at Cardiff last weekend. But just two hours later it was back to the moans, groans and cries for “Big Sam Out!”
