West Ham have confirmed that young striker Toni Martinez has joined Spanish second-division side Real Majadahonda on loan for the 2018-19 season.

The highly-rated 21-year-old has made three first-team appearances with the Hammers, making his debut in an FA Cup tie with Shrewsbury Town, and has moved away despite West Ham’s lack of depth up front.

Martinez returns to Spain for a second stint after spending the second half of last season on loan with Real Valladolid, helping the side earn promotion to LaLiga, but faces a different sort of challenge with Majadahonda this term.

The minnows are in the second division for the first time in their history and face a huge battle to avoid relegation, with Martinez likely to be key in that fight.

While Martinez was part of a Valladolid side that enjoyed success last term, he did not provide the best of impacts as he scored just once in 11 appearances.
