With the 2021/22 season finished, here we take a look at three current players that could step up for the club and shine in claret and blue next year…

Nikola Vlasic

West Ham’s big summer signing Nikola Vlasic has failed to heavily impress for the Hammers. After arriving for £26million from CSKA Moscow, the Croatia international has struggled for playing time under David Moyes.

However, despite only scoring one league goal since signing, Vlasic is still 24-years-old and has shown hints of what he is capable of during matches.

His dribbling and passing qualities are already at a decent standard, but he lacks the confidence and desire on the pitch to make more happen. Now that he has found his feet though, Vlasic could certainly be a larger threat for the Hammers next season.

Manuel Lanzini

West Ham supporters already know what Manuel Lanzini is capable of, and we have seen much more of his best form this season.

A serious knee injury in 2019 had rocked his confidence on the pitch, but now it seems like the Argentina international is getting back to his former self.

The 2022/23 season could definitely be the year for Lanzini to showcase his abilities on the ball to the highest level. As he approaches the age of 30, this is the year to do so and Moyes will be confident that he can trust the services of Lanzini.

Alphonse Areola

One last West Ham player that could shine next season is goalkeeper Alphonse Areola. His future at the club still remains uncertain, having not yet signed permanently following his loan spell with the Hammers this season.

However, reports last week that West Ham are planning to activate his €9m release clause, which isn’t a surprise after the performances he has put in during cup competitions this season.

Areola is definitely the right man to take over the starting spot of Lukasz Fabianski, who has just turned 37, and his shot-stopping abilities and large frame will come in handy next season.
