Seven more sleeps to go! Seven more sleeps ’til….

TRANSFER WINDOW!

Good tidings Hammers fans, it’s me again… the annoying ginger Twitter troll!

January 2016 is fast approaching and there’s plenty of regurgitated transfer rumours knocking about…

“Zaza to sign on loan.”

“Zaza to sign permanently.”

“Andy Carroll to sign for Newcastle.”

Blah blah blah!

SHUT UP!

…but in all seriousness, West Ham do need to do some business in the window.

I wouldn’t sell anyone around the first team. Fringe players such as Joey O’Brien & Matt Jarvis should be moved one to allow freedom for wages for one more player. O’Brien and Jarvis must be on £70k between them, so that’s enough to get a class player in.

Bilic has always said that he would rather spend all the transfer budget on one quality player as the squad is already strong enough. We did this with Carroll under Big Sam, but it was more of a gamble because we had a thin squad.

Super Slav is in a better position and I feel we are a couple of seasons away from being a truly powerful side, unless an investor comes in.

At this moment, where do we really need to invest?

Once Sakho is back fit, we’ll have him, Valencia, Carroll and Jelavic (who I think needs more playing time, still a good striker but once his scores he’ll do ok, we just need to be patient with him) all fighting for striker spot.

Do we give a youngster a chance? Jordan Brown has more of chance this year if we’re really tight, but our formation is mainly focused on midfield and containing our positions to counter attack, so we have four strikers fighting for one starting place.

This is why I don’t think we need to bring another striker in.

If I had to bring someone in, it would be a flair attacking midfielder – a Payet/Lanzini type player because we have struggled to create chances, a striker can only score if they have the chances, who is creating the chances?!

Oliver Giroud was slaughtered for not performing at Arsenal, but since Mesut Ozil has turned it on, he has been on fire. Who’s to say we wouldn’t be slagging off Jelavic at the moment if Payet and Lanzini was fit?

Which is why we shouldn’t have sold Stewart Downing, although the deal was too good to turn down, he is the type of player we would be using at this current time. For the amount of money we got for him, we could probably be spending the same amount on a similar player.

This is where we are lacking and I feel we need to get this resolved. We need to look at players who are down the pecking order but who can still perform, which is why I’m listing these players:-

Premier League

Steven Naismith – Everton
Gaston Ramirez – Southampton
Tomas Rosicky – Arsenal
Stephane Sessegnon – West Brom
Wes Hoolahan – Norwich

Abroad

Manolo Gabbiadini – Napoli ( Serie A)
Juan Fernando Quintero – Rennes ( Ligue 1)
Sofiane Boufal – Lille ( Ligue 1)
Oscar Trejo – Toulouse ( Ligue 1)
Ravel Morrison – Lazio ( Serie A)

Ravel Morrison is ideal. Get him back if he wants to come. Imagine him Payet and Lanzini as our front three midfielders – it’s mouthwatering!

That’s all from me this year, so I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year!

All I want for Christmas is three vital points at Villa Park on Boxing Day – Come on you Irons! Cheers!
