As reports that West Ham are giving serious consideration towards sacking Julen Lopetegui circulate, a potential boost has emerged which might speed up their decision.

Our 0-0 draw with Everton last weekend has only heaped further pressure on the Spaniard’s position, with the overall style and performance not doing anything to suggest improvements are on the horizon.

It means there are now loads of reports linking the club with other managers, while it’s believed there is a board meeting to discuss what the best course of action is this week.

One report a few weeks ago suggested we held an interest in former Borussia Dortmund boss Edin Terzic. He was, of course, Slaven Bilic’s assistant in east London between 2015 and 2017.

Since then he has become a highly rated manager in his own right, leading the Bundesliga outfit to the Champions League final last season, before taking the decision to resign.

The 42-year-old has built a reputation that now has top European clubs interested in his services. Not least Roma, who recently sacked Ivan Juric after just a couple of months in charge.

However, according to Bild, it’s unlikely Terzic will listen to a potential advance from Roma should it come, due to him being in England preparing to give a ‘talk’ this week. Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport claim he has told his representatives that he isn’t interested in the Roma position.

The fact Terzic is in England could make it a lot easier for West Ham to make their move, while Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg claims Terzic is open to a return to London Stadium should the opportunity arise.

That’s a positive development in a situation that needs urgent attention at West Ham. It’s obvious things aren’t working out the way everyone had planned under Lopetegui, which means the club needs to move quickly.

The timing couldn’t be better, either. Another international break has just begun, so a new manager would have over two weeks to familiarise himself with his new surroundings and his players. In Terzic’s case, he’s already familair with Rush Green and London Stadium.
