So we travel to rock-bottom Aston Villa today in the hope recording our first win in eight Premier League outings.

It’s been a strange period in our season. Despite not winning in seven, we’re unbeaten in our last four, which goes to show that although we’ve perhaps struggled to kill games off without our key players being fit, we’re still incredibly difficult to beat.

But hopefully that should all end today if we can live up to our pretty decent Boxing Day record.

Our sponsors Betway have crunched the numbers and looked at what clubs in England’s top flight have been most successful on over the festive period, and our record is surprisingly decent.

We currently hold the eleventh best record over the festive period, in a league table made up of all the clubs to have ever played in the Premier League. The table includes all fixtures to have been played between December 15th and January 14th from 1992 onwards.

Our record stands at played 72, won 21, drawn 20 and lost 31.

That’s not too shabby.

But what’s most interesting is the fact the Boleyn Ground has seen the fifth most goals (25) on Boxing Day in the Premier League, only behind Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge Goodison Park and Villa Park.

So although we’re not at home today, the fact Villa Park is up there suggests we might finally see the end of our 0-0 draws – but hopefully we’ll still manage to keep a clean sheet!
