The four first team ready signings West Ham should make this summer

After confirming our place in next season’s Premier League campaign, West Ham fans will now be desperate for this dreadful season to end.

There is just one more game left to play this season and then we can start looking ahead to a better 2017/18 season.

In order to do this, our transfer business needs to be much better than last summer.

After failing to land any marquee targets last summer, we ended up buying lots of squad players and very few have failed to make an impact.

The likes of Gokhan Tore, Alvaro Arbeloa, Simone Zaza, Sofiane Feghouli, Jonathan Calleri and Havard Nordtveit have all struggled at West Ham.

The board and Slaven Bilic will be keen to avoid making the same mistakes in the upcoming summer so we must look at adding three to five players who are able to slot straight into the first team and improve our squad.

Here are the four players we should look at bringing in, considering our budget will be in the region of £85m-£90m…

Pablo Zabaleta (Free)

West Ham need a new right back this summer as a matter of high priority.

Many reports have linked us with a move for soon-to-be free agent Pablo Zabaleta, who is due to leave Manchester City and reportedly sign a two year deal with the Hammers.

The Argentinian international would be the perfect short-term solution and his experience would make him a great mentor for young Sam Byram.

The 32-year-old would arrive on a free but reports are suggesting that we will offer him hefty £100,000 per week wages.

Joe Hart (£20m)

Darren Randolph has had an error-prone season between the sticks and while Adrian is a decent goalkeeper, we could benefit from having a top class stopper at the club.

England international Joe Hart would be a perfect summer signing.

Manchester City don’t want him and he is reportedly a £20m target for a number of clubs.

The 30-year-old has vast experience of Premier League football and would improve our goalkeeping options.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (£25m)

Another position we may look to strengthen is attacking midfielders to play alongside Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini.

Gylfi Sigurdsson fits the bill as a goal scoring, assist providing, versatile star.

Swansea will be desperate to keep the Icelandic international but West Ham need to convince him that we are ready to push for European places.

The 27-year-old is likely to cost about £25m and can play as a winger, central attacking midfielder or as a striker.

Kelechi Iheanacho (£20m)

West Ham need to sign at least one top class striker this summer but it is hard to get value for money in this position.

That is why West Ham should jump at the chance to sign Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, who is available for just £20m this summer.

The Nigerian international has already shown that he can score goals in the Premier League but is behind Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order at Man City.

With Borussia Dortmund chasing the 20-year-old, West Ham should act quickly and wrap up a deal for the £20m forward early in the window.
