The five players West Ham fans want signed in January

With a string of injuries to key players and a transfer window opening in just a few weeks, it’s probably wise that we look to bring in reinforcements when we have the opportunity.

Due to said injuries, it hasn’t been a surprise to see us being linked with a load of new faces leading in to the January window.

It’s no secret that we’re desperate for a striker who can deputise for Diafra Sakho without us having to neccessarily change the way we play, while injuries to the likes of Lanzini, Valencia and Payet mean we could probably do with one more player like them, who can make things happen going forward.

But who should we sign? On Monday we compiled a list of 12 players we’ve been linked with over the last two months and listed them for you to vote up or down, depending on who you wanted.

And after just under 2,500 of you voted, the results are in.

So here’s who YOU want us to sign this January…

5. Matt Ritchie

Last month MailOnline reported that we were eyeing a surprise move for Bournemouth playmaker Matt Ritchie.

The Scotland international has been a stand out performer for the Cherries over the last two seasons and seems to have made the step up to the Premier League with minimal fuss.

And it appears he’s a player the fans wouldn’t mind us bringing to east London, with 110 fans giving him a thumbs up and 41 a thumbs down.

4. Alexandre Pato

It seems like we’ve been linked with Alexandre Pato forever.

MailOnline reported back in October that Corinthians were looking to seel the striker and there was a possibility that we were the buyer.

Last month Metro claimed Spurs were closing in on a £8.4m deal for the Brazilian, which probably means no one really knows where he’ll actually end up come the end of January.

That said, he’s definitely a wanted man in east London – 125 fans gave him the green light, while 48 thumbed him down.

3. Kevin Mirallas

Another player we’ve been linked with for some time, Mirallas has struggled for game time at Goodison Park this season, despite signing a new deal with them in the summer.

In November the Express claimed we were eyeing another move for him, but faced competition from the likes of Monaco and Marseille for his signature.

He’d certainly prove to be a good signing for us though. He’s got Premier League experience and would add another dimension to our attacking play. He loves a set piece, too.

A huge 315 fans gave him a big thumbs up, while 113 would rather us steer clear of the Belgium international.

2. Seydou Doumbia

If we’re in the market for goals, then surely Seydou Doumbia is the man we should be looking to bring in.

According to the Metro in November, we were leading the race for Doumbia’s signature as Roma looked to cash in on their striker just months after signing him from CSKA Moscow.

Doumbia was sent back on loan to CSKA and has been banging the goals in for them this season, but Metro claimed Roma were looking in to the possibility of recalling him in January and selling him for £10million.

That may prove a little pricey for us, but that didn’t stop a huge 495 West Ham fans voting for him in our poll, with just 26 fans giving him the thumbs down.

1. Gokhan Tore

No real surprise here.

The number one player West Ham fans want signed in January is Besiktas’ Gokhan Tore.

In the summer, the Guardian claimed Slaven Bilic was eager to bring him to east London after he impressed for him during his time with Besiktas in Turkey.

A deal never materialised, but MirrorFootball claimed last month that Bilic was considering a return for his golden boy in January, which would’ve freed up Michail Antonio’s chance to leave on loan for some regular football.

However, with all the injuries we’ve suffered recently, it would be a surprise to see Tore arrive and Antonio to stay as we look to fill the gaps left by our injured stars.

Given Tore’s clear ability and the fact we know Bilic can get the very best out of him, it was obvious the fans would pick him as their number one target.

That was obvious by the fact he got 578 thumbs up and just 54 thumbs down.
