West Ham moved one step closer to Premier League survival on Saturday, securing a 2-0 victory over relegation rivals Burnley.
The win, their third in four games, lifted the Hammers to within three points of Nottingham Forest, giving Nuno Espirito Santo’s side fresh hope in a tough season.
January signing Taty Castellanos marked his first Premier League goal for the club, doubling the score with a header from El Hadji Diouf’s perfectly weighted cross.
Speaking to West Ham TV, Castellanos reflected on the milestone: “It’s always important to score. A striker always wants to score goals, but I haven’t been able to do that in previous games.
“I’m very lucky to be able to defend this shirt. I’ve been given the opportunity to be here and I have to defend it to the end. Obviously, I’m very happy for my first goal here in the Premier League.”

The Argentine forward stressed the importance of teamwork as West Ham push for survival: “We have to go on this path, defending that shirt. The most important thing is that we’re all working together. Important games are coming up. We have to go step by step, training after training, which is what the coach always tells us, and we’re going to continue on this path, which is important for us.”
On the attacking unit, Castellanos also praised the collective strength of the Hammers’ front line.
“We know that we have great strikers like Callum, Summerville, Bowen. We’re feeling very good,”he said. “Pablo has come on very well, too. We’re all on the same side. We have to go on this path, defending that shirt. The most important thing is that we’re all working together.”
With the Irons’ forwards hitting form and confidence on the rise, Castellanos’ debut goal could prove a key boost as West Ham aim to maintain their fight against relegation.
