West Ham fans will be familiar with the name of William Carvalho after a messy transfer saga last summer but a move for the Portugal international could be on the cards.

Sky Sports states that 26-year-old Carvalho, also a reported target for Everton, is set to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer after a turbulent few months.

Carvalho is likely to be one of many players leaving the Portuguese side this summer after vast controversy, which included fans attacking the players at training and the club chairman criticising the squad with comments made.

Some have suggested that Carvalho has cancelled his contract with Sporting but the report states that is not the case, although all parties are actively seeking a transfer.

Carvalho, a Euro 2016 winner with Portugal, has been selected for the World Cup in Russia this summer, where he could raise further interest in his services with his performances.

Capped 42 times for his nation, the midfielder will be a key-part of the European champions’ squad.
