West Ham have been offered the biggest sign yet that Javier Hernández will be staying at West Ham for the 2019/20 season.
It has been confirmed that the Mexico international will wear the number 9 shirt for the Hammers:

West Ham have recently pulled out of the Maxi Gómez negotiations, as reported by Sky Sports, so there are currently questions being asked regarding the striker situation.
If things stay as they stand, Chicharito will be the club’s main striker – with Jordan Hugill and Xande Silva as back up.
While it is presumed the Hammers will be making signings in that area, West Ham have shown the 31-year-old is a big part of their plans by entrusting him with the number 9 shirt – though this could be a way of reassuring the striker, rather than any sign regarding others.
He got seven goals in 14 league starts and 11 substitute appearances, so there is no doubt about whether he is prolific in front of goal.
A lot of West Ham fans will certainly be hoping for new additions, though some have still found the Mexican’s shirt number change highly encouraging – feeling he is capable of being the free scoring striker West Ham have missed so often.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the announcement can be seen below:
VERY happy with this, class striker. I hope he gets game time and with the service from the wings that is available this year he will smash 20 in easy.

So we play to Chicha’s strengths then. No more lone striker nonsense. Lots of action in and around the box for him to do his thing. Happy with that

Hernandez is quality! Maybe with the creative talent we possess now with Fornals, Lanzini, Wilshere, Anderson this could be his season to shine for us! The man scores goals so utilise him correctly n we have that 15-20 goal striker end off!

So he’s our main striker, I’m good with that, he’ll score 20+ next season

I’m pleased Chicha will be staying. Proven goalscorer, good mentality. And most of all we NEED him!
