It seemed inevitable there would be talk around Dimitri Payet returning to West Ham, as four years since he first signed for the Hammers was marked.
Though both player and club have changed since then – with Payet now 32-years-old, while the Hammers have recruited younger talent such as Pablo Fornals.
With discussion about a potential move rearing its head, ExWHUEmployee has cleared things up:
He has been offered to many clubs but I don’t think we are interested https://t.co/OQRFGIlnz0

While there are some fans who are hoping to have him come back to East London, there are others who are pleased to see club steer clear of the Frenchman.
The reasoning can vary from disdain regarding how he left the club, to the opinion that he simply wouldn’t be able to make an impact for the current side, with the likes of Felipe Anderson and Fornals around, or that they feel he would be taking up too much of the wage budget.
The reality of the situation is that time has moved on since Payet was West Ham’s main man, with some of the club’s supporters feeling it’s about time the Hammers also moved on in this situation.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the announcement, including posts from relieved West Ham fans, can be seen below:
I’d imagine we’re not interested because his missus still doesn’t want to live here!

Makes sense. We don’t need him tho. Great as he was to watch we have got a strong attacking midfield line up. Save the wages for strikers and defensive midfielders

Good

£6m but he’d also command big wages so if he’s given a 2 year contact on £100k a week you’re looking at a minimum £16m commitment for a player who will be 33 in March. It’s a big no from me. Far better signing younger talent where we need strengthening like LB for example.

I’d question what his motivation would be now a couple of years after his dream move went sour… is he really up for the challenge I doubt it.. Move on WHU!!
