Six transfer rumours West Ham should make a reality in January

It’s here, the January transfer window. Not only is it the time if the month for players to swap clubs halfway through the season, but it’s the chance for some rumours to fly around the Premier League for at least another four weeks.

From West Ham’s point of view, transfer rumours are few and far between for the Upton Park. Will Winston Reid stay or go? Is Alex Song going to sign permanently? Does Mauro Zarate still have a future at the club? These are just some of the things everyone at West Ham is asking themselves.

With transfer speculation at its peak, here are the six transfer rumours West Ham should make a reality.

Click on Sam Allardyce to reveal

Mario Suarez

When West Ham were linked with Suarez, many where either dreaming of one of the best signing’s the club has ever made, or that it’s a load of dribble. No, it’s not that Suarez (Luis Suarez). However, this Suarez does play in La Liga, the same league as Suarez.

Mario Suarez, a centre midfielder with bags of energy and aggression, has been linked with a move to the Boleyn Ground recently. The defensive midfielder has played 109 times for current La Liga title holders Atletico Madrid, and was considered as a short term replacement for Alex Song, who has now decided against going to the AFCON and has now retired from international football with Cameroon. Sam Allardyce’s men will face stiff competition for his signature, as Italian giants AC Milan area also said to be interested in acquiring the former Celta Vigo man.

However, if the Hammers are planning ahead for their move to the Olympic Stadium in two years’ time, then Suarez undoubtedly has the quality to fit perfectly in the West Ham fold. With Kevin Nolan out of sorts, Suarez can become the ideal replacement. One to look out for?

Nicolas N’Koulou

With the inevitable departure of star defender Winston Reid, Nicolas N’Koulou is in an ideal replacement to fill the New Zealand international’s boots.

N’Koulou has been playing magnificently in the French Ligue 1 with Marseille, and he could be persuaded to come to East Londond by his fellow compatriot Alex Song, who has arguably been West Ham best player of the season so far.

Playing for Marseille since 2011, N’Koulou has been catching the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester City. He has also been involved in Champions League and Europa League since joining from AS Monaco. The question is, will N’Koulou be willing to live without European action?

George Williams

Most of you will be thinking who on earth in George Williams? West Ham is well renowned for its ‘Academy of Football’ and has produced some of the best British talent, signing Williams now, and nurturing him into one the best player he can be will be a wise move by the club.

The 19 year old striker certainly has the quality that has been catching the eye of some top clubs in the Premier League. A Welsh youth international, Williams has already made 15 appearances for Fulham, making his debut in the 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Millwall.

If the Hammers can snap up the former MK Dons player, then he is sure to be a star of the future.

Vitorino Antunes

Antunes has been linked with the Hammers in the past, and the Malaga left back will be perfect cover for Aaron Cresswell, who has been no shorter than outstanding for the Hammers.

With Allardyce opting to adopt a more attacking style, Antunes covers that brilliantly, and if Cresswell is banned, or worse, gets injured, then Big Sam can keep the attacking style he was ordered to use if Antunes comes in as a straight replacement.

The Portuguese international is well settled in Spain, but pursuing the left back could be a wise move indeed.

Yevhen Konoplyanka

Avid West Ham fans may remember in the summer when the Hammers lodged a shock £12m bid to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka, despite being heavily linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

The Ukranian international has pace, trickery and tremendous ability to produce quality from dead ball and set piece situations.

January will be a brilliant time to snap up the FC Dnipro, considering that the talented winger is out of contract in the summer.

Glen Johnson

Like Konoplyanka, Johnson is also out of contract in the summer and can speak to clubs during January. Snapping up the Liverpool full back on a pre-contract agreement should be a priority for West Ham.

Many of you will be asking why would the Hammers want to sign a player who is know where near his best, and is on an estimated £80,000 a week?
However, Stewart Downing was in exactly the same boat, and is now one of West Ham’s most influential players and is part of the reason why West Ham are currently in an impressive seventh place in the table.

If Allardyce was to offer Johnson a chance to the club where it all started for him, then there is no doubt that the right back would at least consider it.
