Mario Suarez

Atletico Madrid Press Conference

When West Ham were linked with Suarez, many where either dreaming of one of the best signing’s the club has ever made, or that it’s a load of dribble. No, it’s not that Suarez (Luis Suarez). However, this Suarez does play in La Liga, the same league as Suarez.

Mario Suarez, a centre midfielder with bags of energy and aggression, has been linked with a move to the Boleyn Ground recently. The defensive midfielder has played 109 times for current La Liga title holders Atletico Madrid, and was considered as a short term replacement for Alex Song, who has now decided against going to the AFCON and has now retired from international football with Cameroon. Sam Allardyce’s men will face stiff competition for his signature, as Italian giants AC Milan area also said to be interested in acquiring the former Celta Vigo man.

However, if the Hammers are planning ahead for their move to the Olympic Stadium in two years’ time, then Suarez undoubtedly has the quality to fit perfectly in the West Ham fold. With Kevin Nolan out of sorts, Suarez can become the ideal replacement. One to look out for?
