After the weekend’s pathetic performance against Bournemouth there’s even more panic surrounding the transfer business we may or may not conduct before next week’s deadline.
We’re crying out for a striker and at least one midfielder and the club keep telling us that they expect to have the striker sorted by the end of this week, while the addition of Alex Song should go through as well.
But there’s always the expectation that we’ll end up with nothing.
Luckily it looks like we’re very close to getting something done after all, and there’s no shortage of options of you believe the reports circulating today.
The calibre of the players being linked with us vary from very good to woeful, but it’s looking likely that we won’t be disappointed come next Tuesday.
So here’s why we should be looking forward to the next week. Finally some good news?

Not many people have heard of the Italy international signed for Juventus in a €18million deal from Sassuolo last month, but reports today suggest we’re in talks with the Serie A giants about a potential loan deal worth €3m.
Even the ever so reliable @ExWHUemployee on Twitter admitted earlier that the player’s agent is in London trying to get a deal done and we hope to have him in the squad in time for the Liverpool game on Saturday…
Zaza's agent is in London negotiating the deal. He was an unused sub for Juve for this reason. We expect to complete by Liverpool game

Zaza bagged 20 goals in 64 league outings for Sassuolo, which earned him his big money move to Juve, and it seems the 24-year-old could be forced to prove his worth in east London before getting his chance with Juventus.

The 35-year-old is being lined up as back up to Adrian, with Darren Randolph’s quality still being questioned.
This would undoubtedly be a decent signing for us, but one still wonders why he’d agree to come to us to just sit on the bench…

The 22-year-old signed for Roma last year in a deal worth €22million from Verona, but talkSPORT reckon the arrivals of Iago Falque and Mohamed Salah this summer have led to Roma thinking about letting him go.
However, Everton are also interested and it could boil down to who the player thinks is the most attractive option over the next week…

His Premier League experience could be key, while he’s still young (24) and could become something of a star at the club over the next few years.
The London Evening Standard claim Moses is top of our shopping list, so we could this might be one to keep an eye on.

It would be a surprise to see United agree to allowing Januzaj to leave given he’s been heavily involved in Louis Van Gaal’s first team plans so far this season.
But there’s no doubting he’d be a huge addition to the side if we get him…

And what’s more, it’s also claimed that Spurs are now willing to subsidise his wages, which would make a deal for Adebayor a much better proposition.
But with all the other attacking players we’re supposedly looking at, this one just has to be a last resort. A last resort being the final five minutes of the window should all the rest not materialise.
