There is no doubt that, despite our defence having a good season, it certainly needs strengthening, especially in the left-back position.

The popular figure of Pablo Armero looked like the answer but Big Sam’s reluctance to make the Columbian’s loan deal permanent meant that West Ham would be looking for at least one new left-back addition this summer.

The good news is that Dan Potts has signed a new deal, which should mean that the 20 year-old will get more first team opportunities next year.

However, with the departure of George McCartney at the end of the season, West Ham are looking incredibly bare in what has become a problem position for us over the past few seasons….
