With the summer transfer window fast approaching and the squad in desperate need of strengthening, below are four players we think West Ham should target in order to improve next season…
Arnaud Souquet
OGC Nice, who have Mario Balotelli on Loan this season, are currently third in the league and are still in the running to win the title, chasing Monaco and Paris Saint Germain.
Part of their success has been down to brilliant performances from Arnaud Souquet (Pronouced “Su-Kay” not “Suck-et”).
The French right-back has been outstanding for the Ligue 1 side this season and has stepped up from being based at lower French league clubs during the early stages of his career.
The Nice star has provided six assists and scored one goal so far this season as they push for a Champions League place, 16 points clear of Lyon.
Nice play Nancy this weekend, so keep a close eye on this game.
Andre Onana
Barcelona academy graduate Andre Onana currently plays for Ajax.
He moved to Ajax two seasons ago and has been between the sticks for the majority of this season, playing 39 times and keeping 19 clean sheets.
The 21-year-old Cameroonian is helping his side push up the table and as they currently sit in 2nd with the possibility of reach Champions League football.
Ajax play SC Heerenveen this Sunday, so if you can catch some highlights on Sky then watch out for Onana’s performance.
Giuliano
Zenit St. Petersburg attacking midfielder Giuliano has been exceptional in his return to Eastern Europe this season.
Arriving from Gremio in the summer, the midfielder has racked up an eye watering 16 goals and 10 assists in all competitions – eight goals of which have been in the Europa League, making him the joint highest goal scorer of the competition so far.
Zenit we’re knocked out of the competition is the first knockout stage by a very good Anderlecht side, so you can just imagine how many more goals the Brazilian could have scored if his team progressed in the competition.
Zenit are 2nd in the Russian League and will be playing table toppers Spartak Moscow this weekend.
Vincent Aboubakar
I’ve said numerous times that West Ham should go all out and sign this powerhouse of a striker.
Aboubakar is the nearest thing to Lukaku outside of the Premier League and is currently (and amazingly) on loan to Besiktas from FC Porto.
Aboubakar was also part of the African Cup of Nations, playing up front for Cameroon, who eventually went on to win the trophy for the first time in many, many years.
In 31 appearances this season he has scored 14 goals and provided one assist, playing under 2,000 minutes so far this season.
