There is some bad news for West Ham fans emerging from the Italian media.
Arthur Masuaku, one of the Hammers’ top performers in recent weeks, is attracting interest from Serie A side Roma, according to Calcio Mercato.
Masuaku was a transfer target for Roma last summer but he opted to join West Ham from Olympiakos instead.
After a couple of injuries and biding his time as back-up to Aaron Cresswell, the Frenchman has really seized his opportunity recently, especially in a more advanced left wing back role.
The Hammers will be keen to keep Masuaku despite interest from Roma and they hope that the Serie A giants instead opt to sign Gael Clichy.
Clichy will become a free agent this summer and leave Manchester City with Roma interested in the French full back.
In Slaven Bilic’s new system, he will need both Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell to alternate in a demanding wing back position.
This is why Bilic will want to keep the 23-year-old at the London Stadium even if Roma do make an official transfer move for the West Ham defender.
