Revealed! This is who West Ham fans want as manager next season…

So the results are in, and they’re pretty interesting.

Earlier this week we ran a poll to see exactly who West Ham fans want as manager next season. This included Sam Allardyce, too, which gave fans a chance to vote for him should they think he deserves a new contract. Fair is fair and all that.

The list included 13 different managers, 12 of which were names we’ve been linked with in recent months (excluding Garry Monk, who was linked with the job after the poll went live).

It was designed to gather a fair and accurate idea on who the fans wanted in charge of the club at the beginning of next season. In a simple thumbs up, thumbs down style poll, fans could vote for as many mangers they liked and as many managers they didn’t like. So if you’re on the fence about two or three names, you could’ve voted for them all.

The response we got from the poll was beyond anything we ever imagined when it went live. A total of 2,546 different fans took part in the poll, collectively placing 21,395 votes between them as they voted the managers up and down.

Voting closed late last night and now it’s time to share the FANS’ CHOICE with you all. If the owners are reading, then take note.

Counting down the top five, here are the managers West Ham fans wouldn’t mind leading us in to the Olympic Stadium…

5. David Moyes

Will he leave Spain so soon after arriving? No one really knows, but he seems to be doing a pretty decent job at Real Sociedad at the moment.

Some fans would argue Moyes is the safest option on the apparent managerial shortlist. He’d keep us in the Premier League, comfortably in mid-table and perhaps even the odd push for a Europa League spot. But that’s it.

His success at Everton over ten years was impressive, but he didn’t win any silverware, which is something we should be aiming for in our shiny new home.

Still, he’s the fans’ fifth choice manager if Allardyce does go. 625 fans gave him a thumbs up, but 938 aren’t keen.

4. Marcelo Bielsa

A quick search on social media will have you believe Bielsa is the fans’ favourite for the job, but this suggests otherwise.

1,225 fans did give him the thumbs up, but that only has him at the fourth favourite man to take the job in the summer.

He’d be a gamble, but would undoubtedly bring some exciting football to the club.

When the likes of Pep Guardiola are singing his praises, it’s hard to not think he’d be ideal for us moving forward.

3. Slaven Bilic

Another fans’ favourite, and he has been for some time now.

Bilic recently denied any intention of replacing Allardyce this summer, but perhaps that’s just a red herring?

As a former player and a passionate manager, fans think he’d be an ideal fit for us as we plan ahead to the Olympic Stadium.

But he would be a big gamble, despite managing in the Europa League and doing a decent job at Besiktas.

But a lack of Premier League experience is a worry, though 1,380 fans would be happy to take a gamble on him.

2. Rafa Benitez

Rafa’s got the experience and silverware to suggest he’d be a pretty big coup for us if he were to be tempted in to taking on what is fast becoming a huge project at West Ham.

He’s won the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup, which is a pretty big deal if we’re serious about moving up to the next level and competing seriously in those competitions in the future.

He could be leaving Napoli in the summer, and 1,375 fans wouldn’t mind it if we were to bring him in.

You may have noticed that five more fans voted for Bilic, but Benitez edges ahead of him in to second because not as many fans voted him a thumbs down.

1. Jurgen Klopp

A land slide victory, which isn’t surprising.

Jurgen Klopp announced he’d be leaving Borussia Dortmund this summer and now he’s being linked with every club under the sun, including little ol’ West Ham.

The chances of us ever having Klopp as manager are very, very slim, but it’d be a serious show of ambition if the owners were to at least try and tempt him to east London.

What’s the worst that can happen? Him say no? Oh well.

1,745 fans gave him the thumbs up, and 570 aren’t keen, which is weird.

So there you have it – THE FANS WANT KLOPP!

The rest…

Sam Allardyce came a respectable eighth out of 13, with 452 fans voting in favour of him getting a new contract.

Eddie Howe narrowly missed out on the top five, while club legend Paolo Di Canio was only supported by 313 fans.

Poor ol’ Gus Poyet only got 52 thumbs up, which isn’t really surprising given the way in which he left Sunderland.

So Klopp’s the man the fans want, Benitez is their back up option and Bilic could still be a possibility should the other two fail.
