Amidst all of the outrage, the disgrace, the questionable tactical and everything else that has tainted this current season, there have been a few shining lights to give us hope that everything will eventually be alright.

Ok, so 16/17 hasn’t been as bad as some fans will have you make out. Contrary to what some supporters are saying on social media, the club isn’t actually dead, we’re still called West Ham United and, believe it or not, it isn’t the owners’ fault the stadium is not 100% football friendly.

However, that doesn’t mean to say it hasn’t been a difficult season to endure, it most certainly has, but there have been several moments that should give us all hope for the immediate future.

Those positives include the performances of a small handful of players this season, despite a lot more of the playing squad being incredibly under par for too long since last July.

But who should the club definitely keep next summer and should they definitely put up for sale?

We posed that question to our readers earlier this week, listing 11 players and the manager as the key personnel who could be on the way out this summer in some way, shape or form.

In a simple up/down style vote, fans were asked to vote thumbs up for the players they want to see stay and thumbs down for the ones they don’t, with the results at both ends of the table coming as a surprise. The poll received almost 6,500 votes in total.

We published the results of the three players fans want to see axed in the summer yesterday, which you can see here, and now it’s time to reveal the real fan favourites at the club…

Quite surprisingly, Robert Snodgrass is the main man fans want to keep at the club beyond the summer.

The Scotland international arrived in a £10.2m switch from Hull in January and is yet to really live up to that fee, but he has shown flashes of brilliance in his seven appearances in claret and blue this far.

The boss Slaven Bilic came in at 2nd, which shows that he still has the support of the fans despite a difficult season and a number of questionable decisions from him throughout the campaign – hopefully he’s given a new contract soon and is allowed to continue what he started last term.

And finally, Angelo Ogbonna is the third player fans want to keep most beyond the summer. He absense has been felt in recent weeks, and we haven’t won since it was revealed he would miss the rest of the season through injury.

So there you have it – the results may surprise you, but the fans have spoken. Irons.
