Amidst all the hype surrounding Nene’s potential move to the Boleyn Ground today and Sam Allardyce’s (apparent) dismissal as manager, we were also treated to something of an injury scare.
Cheikhou Kouyate suffered an awkward fall during training today, which led to him being rushed to hospital with a suspected broken wrist. It threatened to be yet another banana skin in our attempts to put our stuttering league form and FA Cup exit behind us and begin putting a run of results together between now and the end of the season.
Kouyate has arguably been our best player over the last few games, particularly in the centre of defence after being called upon to help deputise in the absence of Winston Reid and James Collins through injury.
It was obviously going to be a huge blow for us if he was in fact crocked, especially with an important trip to rivals Tottenham on Sunday. And Hammers fans were understandably worried on Twitter as the news broke…

Kouyate apparently has broken his arm in training. Ok then

Kouyaté out with a suspected broken arm, presumably from running into a tunnel painted convincingly onto a brick wall

Fuck. Kouyate out with a broken arm is a hammer blow. Please don't be true #whufc

If the Kouyate rumours are true that's a big blow! If so, I'd go 3-5-2 on Sunday if Collins & Reid are fit! #WHUFC

But it all turned out ok in the end as the club revealed the midfielder had been given the all clear…
