Revenge was sweet for West Ham on Wednesday night as they put Sunday’s disappointment behind them by dumping Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup.

Having fallen to 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils in the Premier League last weekend, David Moyes’ made the trip north on Wednesday evening looking to get back to winning ways at Old Trafford – and they did just that with a 1-0 victory.

Moyes named a completely different XI to the one that faced United on Sunday, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also making several changes to his side for the Carabao Cup 3rd Round clash.

It was West Ham’s first win at Old Trafford since 2017, when Carlos Tevez netted in that famous Great Escape victory, and Manuel Lanzini followed in the footsteps of his compatriot with his first-half winner.

The win is just the latest high in this incredible David Moyes era as the Scot continues to take this team to heights rarely seen before in east London.

And fans were very complimentary of Moyes, the performance and the win on the KUMB forum after the game.

Here’s a selection of the best reactions at the final whistle…

“Not to be underestimated at all even if it is the Carabao. The lads on the pitch tonight thoroughly deserved the win, worked tremendously hard and come away from Old Trafford still in the hat. Tomorrow morning training – finishing practice please. – JerseyHammer, KUMB

“Great result tonight. Thought Dawson and Diop played really well. Could have got a few more goals but we held on. Onwards and upwards. COYI.” – zinger549, KUMB

“Kral did everything he could tonight to stop Man United creating anything. Once or twice looked outpaced but otherwise was absolutely on it from first to last. Diop at his absolute best too, and Areola had a good debut between the sticks. When Man United left spaces in the last ten minutes, we made our best chances all game – it was like watching us last season then.” – YorksHammer, KUMB

“Quadruple is still on.” – westham, eggyandchips, KUMB

“Dawson and Diop were absolutely mustard tonight. Incredible performances. Areola solid, Kral wasn’t great on the ball but didn’t stop running and breaking up play, for his finishing Bowen didn’t stop hassling. We really are 2 quality players away from a top-notch side.” – smuts, KUMB

“I could only see the second half as was playing football earlier but thought it was absolutely brilliant performance. Every single player put in a proper shift and the celebrations at the end looked epic with all the squad on the pitch. Extremely proud of west ham tonight.” – Crouched_Hammer, KUMB

“Brilliant performance, a real team effort and everyone contributed. You can see the growing experience of Johnson resulting in an impressive performance. In fact, all of our defence was solid and gave their all, such a shame Fredericks had to go off so early. We could and should have scored more, although I won’t be as harsh as Hamburger I have mentioned before that we seem to scuff our final ball on goal quite a bit. Delighted for Mark Noble, a true captain’s performance and his handling of the cheating prima donna’s was superb. What a niggly, horrible bunch of entitled players they are. Thanks, Bruno for eating into the extra time you desperately needed with that idiocy at the drop ball. Finally, our away support was magnificent, it is nights like these that make the effort worthwhile. Sung all game, hope it came across on TV.” – Kialos, KUMB

“Brilliant! Winning a League Cup tie against Manure, without Antonio, Rice or…..Johnathon Spector.” – irving boleyn, KUMB

“I’m sure (and hope) it’s been said already but that performance from Bowen last night was incredible. He led the line so so well, never stopped running, always showing for it and giving an option. He wins so much more in the air than I expect him to as well. Immense. He’s some player.” – southendmadhammer, KUMB
