Aaron Cresswell was today named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the two international matches in June.
The West Ham left back is in the squad to cover for the injured duo of Danny Rose (Tottenham) and Luke Shaw (Manchester United).
Cressy is likely to be the back-up choice to Ryan Bertrand (Southampton) for the two games but he could build on his one international cap so far – which he earned earlier in the season against Spain.
The 27-year-old is available for selection for England as they travel to Scotland on the 10th June in a World Cup qualifier.
Robert Snodgrass of West Ham could line up against Aaron Cresswell.
The Three Lions then face a trip to France in an international friendly, where Cresswell could come face to face with former Hammer Dimitri Payet.
West Ham fans had mixed reaction to Cresswell’s call-up and here are a selection of their tweets in response.
Haha a classic England selection. Pick a player out of form, happy for him but he hasn't been doing it for West Ham recently

Great news. But please, please don't use the muscle emoji.

Is this what DG was implying by seasoned internationals?

Great to see that @Aaron_Cresswell gets a call up. Been a tough season for him but equally well deserved. #COYI ⚒ https://t.co/xbHqv6typm
