So this is it. The final game of the season and potentially the final game under Sam Allardyce.
Given that we’re safe from the drop and Manchester City cannot afford to lose today, most people will predicting a similar capitulation to the one in the Capital One Cup semi-final.
But we’ve tightened up considerably at the back since then, so much so that we can take some kind of confidence to the Etihad this afternoon. The 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier this season typified how good we can really be at keeping the very best in the league at bay.
And we should expect that exact approach today as Allardyce hopes to bow out with his head held high (if the speculation of his departure is true).
