With Andy Carroll suspended, we’re kind of back to square one when it comes to selecting a full strength side.

We all know how important Carroll is to Allardyce’s approach and style of play, and we saw that in full flow last Saturday in the 2-0 victory over Swansea.

But there are positives. Winston Reid should return to the starting line-up today, while I see no reason why new arrival Pablo Armero shouldn’t start. The Columbian will add pace down the left hand side, which is something we’ve lacked for so many years.

Meanwhile, up front, I’d hand Marco Borriello his Hammers debut. So here’s how I think Sam Allardyce may line his side up at Villa Park today…
