West Ham have been linked with the signing of French winger Alexis Claude-Maurice by Sky Sports.

The 21-year-old scored 14 goals in 35 Ligue 2 appearances for Lorient this season, which has seen him linked with Arsenal, who took Mattéo Guendouzi from the same side last summer.

While it is an exciting prospect for the club, this link could be a worry for Grady Diangana.

The 21-year-old Londoner broke into the team this season after scoring twice in the 8-0 Carabao Cup win against Macclesfield Town.

He ended the season with six starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League, recording one assist.

It may have been in a less competitive division but Claude-Maurice’s numbers completely blew Diangana’s out of the water.

With this in mind and the fact that West Ham would be paying a reported £10million fee for him, this would likely see Diangana’s game time dropped.

The youngster has been one of the most consistently performing academy graduates behind Declan Rice this season, so it would be concerning to see him go down the pecking order so soon.

If his route to games is being blocked, it could be worth sending the England U20 international out on loan so that he is able to regularly start games and continue his development.
