Manuel Pellegrini is quickly learning that things are never easy at West Ham, as it seems he’s lost another senior battle behind the scenes.

The Sun states that Pellegrini’s push for former colleague Mario Husillos to be appointed the Hammers’ head of recruitment has proven to be unsuccessful, with the board instead offering him a role as chief scout.

Earlier reports, which have since been rebuffed by Pellegrini himself, have suggested that the Chilean is not happy with the club’s hierarchy following his appointment a few weeks ago and this setback will certainly not aid those relationships.

Husillo, who previously worked alongside Pellegrini with Malaga, was touted as the new head of West Ham’s recruitment as the Hammers eye a major restructure after the departure of disgraced Tony Henry earlier this year.

However, West Hams board were not convinced by Husillo after his disastrous return to Malaga last season – where the eight players he signed in January failed to impress, with the club relegated from LaLiga.
