West Ham have ticked the first piece of business off their hefty summer check-list after appointing experienced boss Manuel Pellegrini as the club’s new manager.
The Chilean arrives at a club that has plenty of work to do during the close season though, as the Hammers endured a difficult campaign where they spent most of the season flirting with relegation.
Significant summer additions are being eyed and Pellegrini is reportedly set to be handed a hefty transfer budget to work with, as The Daily Mirror states he’ll have £75m to spend in the market.
Pellegrini is keen to craft an exciting, attacking side at the London Stadium and will allow a number of high-profile players to leave – including Michail Antonio, a reported target for Crystal Palace.
The wage bill has already been reduced following the departure of experienced defender James Collins, who saw his deal come to a close, while around £100k-a-week has been taken off the bill after Joe Hart returned to parent side Manchester City.
