Massimo Ambrosini

AC Milan veteran Massimo Ambrosini is locked in talks with West Ham over a possible free transfer to Upton Park this summer.

The 36-year-old midfielder has been told he can leave the San Siro after 18-years at the club and his agent has confirmed that they are seriously considering an offer from the Hammers, while also ruling out a move to the MLS where he has also received interest.

Moreno Roggi told Calciomercato: “Obviously Massimo wants to continue. His preference would be overseas clubs.

“At this moment we are in talks with West Ham, while we have already ruled out Major League Soccer.”

But Roggi also insisted that two times UEFA Champions League winner Ambrosini will not dismiss the opportunity to stay in Italy should the right offer come in.

“If an offer did come in from an Italian side we would not ignore it completely,” he stressed.

As well as his two UEFA Champions League triumphs, Ambrosini has also won four Serie A titles, two UEFA Super Cups, one FIFA Club World Cup, one Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.

Razvan Rat

Shakhtar Donetsk defender Razvan Rat is still on Sam Allardyce’s radar despite seeing a January move fall through at the last minute, according to reports in Romania.

The 31-year-old’s performances for the Ukrainian club have the attention of several clubs across Europe and is apparently in talks with Marseille, leaving Allardyce with not much time to make a second attempt to bring him to London.

However, Turkish giants Besiktas are also thought to be interested in his securing his services and will be favourites for his signature as they have the lure of European football next season.

Diame’s delight

Mo Diame

Mohamed Diame has spoken of his delight after he scored his third goal of the season in the 2-2  draw with Manchester United last night.

The midfielder converted a powerful curling shot to put West Ham 2-1 up in the second-half and should have been the winner had the linesman correctly cancelled out Van Persie’s late equaliser for offside.

But Diame admits he is pleased to have ended his 15 game goal drought and expects the Hammers to take a lot of confidence from the performance and the result.

He told whufc.com: “Guy [Demel] gave me the right ball inside and I turned on my left foot and I’m happy to have scored this goal because I’ve been waiting for this since the Chelsea game.

“I’m happy to get this goal and to bring something to the team. I try to give my best all the time on the pitch and I had the opportunity to shoot on target and I did it well, so it was good for the team.

“It is good for our confidence that we played well and we have good players. We are playing well at the moment so we need to keep it going and then we can prepare for next season.”

And Diame is believes the Hammers can achieve a top-ten finish, starting with a win against his former club Wigan Athletic at Upton Park on Saturday.

“We are going to give everything to try to finish in the top ten,” he said.

“It would be a good present for the fans and for ourselves and would show the people how good we can be. We’re going to keep going and keep working hard every week and try to bring more points.

“They [Wigan Athletic] are in a very difficult situation now and I hope for them that they are going to stay up. I have a lot of friends there and there are a lot of good people there, so I how they can stay up.”

Allardyce angry with RVP goal

Sam Allardyce has spoken of his disappointment that a poor decision cost West Ham a historic win against Manchester United last night.

Ricardo Vaz Te’s header and Mohamed Diame’s curling wondergoal twice put the Hammers in control but Antonio Valencia and Robin Van Persie cancelled out both, although it later appeared Van Persie’s goal was offside.

And Allardyce has slammed the way his side was robbed of the chance to take all three points against the Champions-elect, but also praised his players’ performance.

He told whufc.com: “The outstanding goals that we scored, especially the second goal, should have brought us an outstanding victory against the leaders Manchester United. And sadly, the linesman’s decision had denied us a famous victory.

“Van Persie’s goal was offside. He was in an offside position when the ball was struck, it hit the post, it came to him and he’s put it in the net. It’s a famous victory that has slipped away from us.

“It was just an outstanding performance from all the players that took part, I can’t praise them enough. We’ve played like this most of the season.”

And the manager is know planning for the visit of Wigan Athletic on Saturday and is feeling upbeat about the club’s current form of four games unbeaten, which is the best run the Hammers have enjoyed all season.

“We’ll look at the squad and use it accordingly and hopefully we can continue this run,” he said.

“I think we’ve only lost two in nine matches now, even if it is three draws on the trot.”

Hammers set for double Rovers swoop

Martin Olsson and Jordan Rhodes

West Ham are reportedly weighing up a £9million double bid for Blackburn Rovers’ Martin Olsson and Jordan Rhodes.

The Hammers had a £5million bid for Olsson rejected in January and it’s understood they will be back knocking on Rovers’ door with a new offer in the summer, while recent rumours have linked them with a move for Rhodes, who has netted 26 goals in the Championship this season.

And, according to Sports Direct News, Sam Allardyce is working on a double-bid that could bring both of them to Upton Park and away from what could be League One football next season if Blackburn fail to avoid back-to-back relegations.
