The January Transfer Window isn’t even open yet and we’re already talking about one of our players going on loan to QPR. Again.
Last year we gave them Modibo Maiga and Ravel Morrison, both of which offered the Loftus Road club mixed results.
This time it’s promising forward Mauro Zarate who’s caught ‘arry’s eye, just months after being brought to the club by co-chairman David Sullivan.
Over the months there has been calls for Zarate to be given a chance, but Sam Allardyce has refused to play him. Zarate claims it’s because he isn’t Allardyce’s signing, but you wonder what else is going on behind the scenes.
As news of Zarate’s medical at QPR broke this morning, Hammers fans took to Twitter to voice their concerns. Why are we allowing a forward to leave the club when we’ll be losing Diafra Sakho for month to the African Cup of Nations? Why isn’t Allardyce giving him a chance? Where is the logic behind this decision?
Some fans took a different stance, claiming Zarate thinks he can win games on his own and is upsetting the squad (all of which are unproven compared to Zarate’s claims), but the general feeling amongst fans is that it’s an outrageous decision…
West Ham striker Mauro Zarate is undergoing a medical at QPR ahead of a proposed loan move to Loftus Road. #qpr #whufc

Zarate's off then. Frustrated at how this has all panned out. Allardyce's stubbornness clear for all to see. #COYI

Zarate- Bought himself out of his contract to join west ham and moved his whole family to London. Embarrassing from the club @davidgold

It's ridiculous how the club have treated Zarate, would've needed him when Sakho is at AFCON @davidgold @whufc_official

I am going to buy a QPR season ticket and sit there wearing my Zarate west ham shirt to support him during his loan #WestHamFamily

@davidgold d.g., Are you really going to allow Sam to loan out Zarate in Jan.? Not only is he a great player, but we're also losing Sakho!
— Stelios J (@Tsaksonakis) December 30, 2014
Only West Ham would loan out Zarate whilst Nolan still gets game time..

Don't understand the logic in loaning out Zarate. Sakho is off to AFCON, leaving just Carlton Cole in reserve! #wtf #whufc

All this talk about its ok Zarate is leaving as we've got a replacement sorted is a joke. Why do we need to replace a quality player?
— Chicago Hammers (@ChicagoHammers) December 30, 2014
If fat Sam won't play Zarate cos the chairman signed him what's he going do when he signs Messi next week ?

West Ham were slowly getting into my good books but now they're about to loan out Zarate, what a delusional decision.
— Josh Thorley (@Thorleh) December 30, 2014
Allerdyce you better have quality lined up to replace zarate or you have lost my support
— Brian Allan (@Tayport) December 30, 2014
Gutted that Zarate is going out on loan. Mr Allardyce certainly makes some weird decisions

And David must have visited the future before tweeting this at the end of May…
Can't wait for Mauro Zarate to get off to a flier at West Ham, before falling out with Big Sam and getting loaned out in January.
