West Ham must not challenge Rice’s contract demands if they want to keep him, after reports suggested that the midfielder may want to leave next summer.

Declan Rice has been linked with several moves away from the club over the past couple of years.

His impressive development and progression has seen him become one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League and a regular starter for England.

His performances have gained recognition from all over the world, but his loyalty to West Ham has made him a club hero ever since he made his debut in 2017.

Reports now suggest that the club are in fact in talks with the midfielder over a potential new deal, with several demands in place. His current deal expires in 2024 and fans would love to see him extend his contract and commit his future to West Ham.

However with this in mind, it is imperative that the board give Rice anything he wants to make sure he stays at the club beyond this season.

Often negotiations with the West Ham owners can hit a stalemate but, considering his current contract, it is of utmost importance that the club swallows their pride and do what they can to keep our star player happy.

Reports from 90min last week stated that the midfielder fully expects to leave the club next summer, with the likes of Chelsea, Man United, Man City and Liverpool all interested.

We know that it could be a tough challenge to tie him down to a new contract, but the 22-year-old has proved that what he can offer West Ham will be worth much more than any contract demands the board will face.

Securing the future of Declan Rice will be like adding another transfer signing, and West Ham’s owners should not stand in the way of a potential deal.
