After scoring his sixth goal of the season against Leeds on Saturday, Michail Antonio is a man in fine form for West Ham.

Antonio, who is now the Premier League’s joint-top scorer this season, has encountered a remarkable rise during his football career and is now becoming a prolific striker at West Ham.

The 31-year-old has gone from rising up the ranks with non-league football, to starting as a right-back for the majority of the season and to finally becoming a talented talisman in the Premier League.

The Jamaica international has now scored six goals and produced three assists in his past six games in all competitions and has 33 goal contributions in his last 35 outings. Not to mention he also became West Ham’s all-time top PL goal scorer last month.

For a player that begun his Hammers career as a winger before being converted to right-back and then developing as a striker, he hasn’t done so badly and there is plenty more to come from the charismatic striker.

There has been much controversy over the striker role at West Ham throughout the years, with only a handful actually being successes in the claret and blue shirt. However, we can safely say that Antonio now fits that bracket.

Not only has he improved his footballing abilities and physical presence over the past couple of seasons, but his leadership qualities have also been heightened through the help of his teammates.

As seen through his scoring records and statistics, Antonio has grown into a great striker at West Ham United. After coming through non-league football with Tooting & Mitcham he knows how to work hard and get the job done, and that is why he is so popular with the Hammers fan base.
