West Ham will be boosted by the potential return of central defender Kurt Zouma before the end of the season, according to a West Ham insider.
Reliable West Ham ITK @ExWHUemployee confirmed on his podcast that 27-year-old Zouma has returned to training ahead of schedule, after suffering an ankle injury a few weeks ago.
The Hammers currently have only one fit senior central defender within their ranks – following injuries to fellow centre-backs Issa Diop and Angelo Ogbonna.
Craig Dawson is the last man standing at the moment, but his red card during the Hammers’ 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday means that he is suspended for this weekend’s visit of Arsenal.
France international Zouma has been an integral squad member for David Moyes this season, after arriving in a £29.8m deal from Chelsea last summer.
The fact he is ahead of schedule will be a massive boost for the squad, with a tough run of fixtures upcoming in the final month of the season.
The Hammers are into the semi-finals of the Europa League and, despite Zouma not being able to return for the next two games, he would be a big boost should we reach the final.
The defender has become an instant hit amongst supporters and fans are desperate for some good news after an injury-ravaged few weeks.
The quicker Zouma comes back, the better it is for David Moyes and his squad. His contribution to the team will be pivotal in securing a strong league finish this season, as well as a potential European trophy in May.
