One player West Ham should sign from every Championship team

After a lacklustre season where a relegation scrap was a reality for the majority and all Paddy Power promo codes for UK players weren’t favouring the Hammers, West Ham United fans are hoping for a better showing next year.

It was a disappointing campaign for the Hammers, despite much promise at the start of the season.

West Ham fans are hoping that Manuel Pellegrini came lead a revival and rebuild the squad for next year.

One market that West Ham have found success previously is by dipping into the Championship and stealing the best players in the division below.

The likes of Aaron Cresswell and Michail Antonio have been recent success stories for the Hammers and it could be an area to target again this year, rather than spending lots of unproven foreign imports.

Here is one player from each of the 24 teams in the Championship that West Ham should consider signing in the summer transfer window.

CLICK HERE TO SEE WHO WE SHOULD TARGET

Aston Villa – Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish is an exciting young talent, who plays anywhere across Aston Villa’s attacking midfield.

The 22-year-old is likely to be in-demand this summer as Aston Villa struggle with their finances and West Ham should launch a bid.

Birmingham – Che Adams

Birmingham have had a poor year but youngster Che Adams still managed to grab nine goals and two assists in 19 starts.

The 21-year-old is a previous West Ham target who is able to play on the wing or up front.

Blackburn – Ryan Nyambe

Nyambe, 20, would be a long-term right-back option for West Ham.

The Namibian defender is a talented young player and he could be a rival for Ryan Fredericks in years to come.

Bolton – Jake Turner

There are not many Bolton players who would add anything to West Ham’s team but perhaps we should look to the future and bring in goalkeeper Jake Turner.

The 18-year-old is wanted by some of the country’s top clubs but Bolton are keen to keep their prize youngster.

Brentford – Chris Mepham

Brentford have a few players worth scouting but Chris Mepham has a big future ahead of him.

The 20-year-old, who is already a full Wales international, is a physical 6ft 3in centre half and is a regular member of Brentford’s team despite his young age.

Bristol City – Bobby Reid

Bobby Reid has been moved further forward this season and has thrived in a more attacking role, striking 21 goals in 52 games.

The 25-year-old could be on his way to the Premier League this summer and West Ham should make a bid.

Derby – Luke Thomas

West Ham have recently been linked with a move for Derby youngster Luke Thomas.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has already played a few first team games and has a bright future ahead of him.

Hull – Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen has only broken into the Hull side this year and has scored 14 goals for the Tigers from the wing.

The 21-year-old has plenty of potential and could add competition for places out wide for the Hammers.

Ipswich – Tristan Nydam

Tristan Nydam is a very exciting young central midfielder who is already playing for the Ipswich first team.

The 18-year-old is tipped for a bright future and West Ham should try to poach him.

Leeds – Ronaldo Vieira

Leeds have so many promising young players on their books and Ronaldo Vieira might be the brightest prospect at Elland Road.

The 19-year-old is a combative defensive midfielder with bags of energy and he is only going to get better.

Middlesbrough – Adama Traore

Adama Traore was previously linked with West Ham and he is now twice the player he was back then.

The 22-year-old winger is the fastest player in the division, he has tremendous skill and now the former Barcelona man has added end product to his game.

Millwall – Mahlon Romeo

Not that we would do any business with our biggest rivals but if I had to choose one, it would be Mahlon Romeo.

The 22-year-old is a young and promising right back.

Norwich – Ben Godfrey

Norwich City youngster Ben Godfrey showed his talent on loan at Shrewsbury Town last season.

The 20-year-old showed maturity beyond his years, protecting his back four with some solid defensive midfield displays and he would be a good long-term capture for the Hammers.

Nottingham Forest – Matty Cash

Young winger Matty Cash has been one of Nottingham Forest’s most consistent players this season and he is still learning every game.

The 20-year-old can play across the midfield and could develop into a Premier League player one day.

Preston – Josh Earl

Preston defender Josh Earl is attracting interest from the likes of Everton and Liverpool because of his top displays for the Lilywhites.

The 19-year-old plays predominantly as a left back but the towering 6ft 4in youngster is also able to play in the middle of defence.

QPR – Eberechi Eze

Eberechi Eze is a very talented young attacking midfielder, who has impressed for both Wycombe Wanderers and QPR this season.

The 19-year-old has scored twice in eight starts for the Hoops in the Championship and already looks comfortable at that level despite being a teenager still.

Reading – Liam Moore

Reading centre-half Liam Moore is one of the most reliable defenders in the Championship.

The 25-year-old is strong, powerful, composed and surely heading to the Premier League this summer.

Rotherham – Will Vaulks

There are not any Rotherham players who would improve West Ham but Vaulks is their best player.

Comfortable in central midfield, central defence or at right-back, the 24-year-old is a useful versatile option.

Sheffield United – David Brooks

Sheffield United youngster David Brooks is an exciting talent.

The 20-year-old is an attacking midfielder who is already capped by Wales after impressing for the Blades this term.

Sheffield Wednesday – George Hirst

George Hirst is rated as one of the best young strikers in England but he is not getting first team football at Sheffield Wednesday amid interest from the Premier League big boys.

The 19-year-old, who is available for a compensation fee this summer, is 6ft 3in tall and he has been prolific at youth level for both club and England’s youth teams.

Stoke – Jack Butland

There are a few players who could probably improve West Ham but Butland would be an excellent choice.

The 25-year-old would be the long-term answer to the goalkeeper problem and a move back to the Premier League is what he needs.

Swansea – Alfie Mawson

West Ham are strongly linked with a move for Mawson this summer and he would strengthen the centre-back options.

The 24-year-old was one of Swansea’s best players last year despite their relegation and a move to West Ham could boost his international hopes.

West Brom – Craig Dawson

Dawson is experienced and reliable at the back and he would be a good squad option for the Irons.

The 28-year-old can play as a right-back or as a centre-half, strengthening West Ham’s options across the back.

Wigan – Callum Lang

Lang is still only a teenager but he hit double figures with goals on loan at League Two Morecambe last year.

The 19-year-old could develop into a top striker in the future.
