It’s no real surprise that Alex Song is looking increasingly unlikely to make his West Ham loan spell permanent this summer.

After being our best player during the first half of the campaign, the Barcelona outcast has been a shadow of his former self since Christmas.

As a result, not only are the fans becoming more and more unsure of their feelings towards keeping him, but the club are also having second thoughts.

According to MirrorFootball, the club are planning to send Alex Song back to Barcelona and will replace him with another big-name signing.

Despite the uncertainty surround Sam Allardyce future, the club appear to have already entered the market for some reinforcements. That perhaps suggest their looking for a ‘head coach’ rather than an actual manager should Allardyce leave the club.

MirrorFootball claim the board are planning to invest heavily ahead in the playing squad ahead of our final season at the Boleyn Ground – with only ‘quality’ players on the transfer shortlist.

But who could/should we sign? We’ve speculated on a number of interesting targets over the last few months. Take a look at our articles below to see who we could be signing in the summer…
