An official announcement confirming West Ham as the new tenants of the Olympic Stadium is expected this week, ITV understands.

The reports suggest the stadium will be ready for West Ham to play their first competitive game in the 2015/2016 season after three years of renovation work that will include installing retractable seating to hide the athletics track and a new roof.

It has also been reported that the stadium will be used to host some of the 2015 Rugby World Cup matches and to strengthen London’s possible bid to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The reports come just a week after Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn launched a judicial review into the process used to choose the stadium’s new tenants.

However, the London Legacy Development Corporation says the bidding process for the stadium was “fair.”
