West Ham’s season took another damaging turn on Tuesday night as they fell to a 2–1 home defeat against Nottingham Forest, a result that extended their winless run to 10 matches and kept them marooned inside the relegation zone.
Once again, the manner of the loss was as painful as the result itself. The Hammers controlled large periods of the contest and went ahead through Crysencio Summerville, only for the game to unravel after the break. Nicolas Dominguez levelled matters before a late Morgan Gibbs-White penalty — conceded when Alphonse Areola mistimed his challenge while claiming a high ball — condemned West Ham to yet another setback.
Both of the club’s January arrivals, Pablo Felipe and Taty Castellanos, featured on the night, and with the window still open, attention quickly turned to what comes next.
Just prior to the defeat, Nuno Espírito Santo provided a clear update on West Ham’s remaining transfer plans.
Nuno: “We Still Need More Players”

Speaking to the media just before the game, Nuno admitted that despite already adding two forwards, West Ham’s work in the transfer market is far from complete.
The Hammers have moved swiftly this month to bring in Felipe from Gil Vicente and Castellanos from Lazio. However, those arrivals have coincided with further exits.
Callum Wilson, currently joint-top scorer with Jarrod Bowen on four goals, is in talks to end his short spell at the club after dropping to third choice.
If Wilson departs, he would become the third forward to leave in January. Niclas Füllkrug has already joined AC Milan on loan, while Luis Guilherme has completed a permanent move to Sporting CP.
Nuno made it clear that more changes are expected.
“We still need more players,” Nuno said. “We need to rebalance some positions. We have players going out. I think all of us (at the club) and the players realise that they need help.”
While Nuno stopped short of revealing which positions could be addressed next, his comments leave little doubt: West Ham are not finished in the market.
With relegation pressure intensifying and squad balance still a concern, further incomings — and outgoings — look increasingly likely before the window shuts.
