Career at West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as West Ham manager on 27th September 2025, replacing Graham Potter, signing a three-year contract.

The Portuguese’s first game in charge was on the same day he was appointed – a 1-1 draw away at Everton in the Premier League.

With the Hammers in the relegation zone when he was appointed, Nuno’s priority was to ensure Premier League survival but by early January, West Ham had slipped further away from safety and were seven points adrift of 17th.

His first win as West Ham boss came on 2nd November 2025, which was a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United at London Stadium. He picked up his second win less than a week later at home to Burnley.

A run of 10 Premier League fixtures without a win followed, before an FA Cup third round win over QPR at home on 11th January 2026. That win sparked a vital uptick in form for the Hammers and Nuno’s side went on to lose just four of their next 17 games in all competitions, reaching the FA Cup quarter-final in the process. That run put them two points above the relegation zone with four games of the league season to play.

Contract & Future Situation

Nuno Espirito Santo signed a three-year contract at West Ham but that was under the expectation that he kept the Hammers in the Premier League.

It’s currently unclear whether he will remain in charge if West Ham are relegated at the end of the 2025/2026 season.
