The transfer deadline may have passed but there is still the possibility of further departures from the London Stadium this month.

In Europe, the transfer window does not close until the end of August and the Football League’s loan window also runs until the end of the month – which means the continuation of one particular saga.

The Nottingham Post reveal that Nottingham Forest continued their push to sign Sam Byram on Deadline Day and state a deal was not far off when the 5pm deadline hit.

It’s added that Aitor Karanka’s side will now push towards a loan deal for the 24-year-old, which may include a permanent option in the future, and that Byram is keen on a switch.

The former Leeds United man has struggled for first-team appearances since making the move to east London and wants more consistent opportunities, leading him to be prepared to accept a drop down to the Championship.
