West Ham continue to search the market for improvements to their attacking line but they could be set for a fierce battle in pursuit of their ideal targets.

The Hammers have been widely attributed with an interest in Fulham full-back Ryan Fredericks, who is edging towards the end of his contract with the newly-promoted side.

West Ham and Crystal Palace are said to be the leading candidates to land the 25-year-old but The Chronicle now states Newcastle United have joined the hunt.

Fredericks has excelled with Slavisla Jokanovic’s side this season, helping the Cottagers push all the way to the playoff final at Wembley, and caught the eye again in the 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

However, Fulham are keen to retain his services for their return to the top-flight and Fredericks hinted after the weekend’s victory that he could still remain at Craven Cottage.

Fredericks deal expires in June so a conclusion to the saga will be imminent, though it’s not clear yet where he’ll be playing next term.
