West Ham United moved out of the relegation zone in the Premier League last night with what could prove to be a vital victory.
Andy Carroll was the hero for the Hammers as the out-of-sorts forward scored his first and second goals of the season to earn West Ham a win over relegation rivals West Bromwich Albion at The London Stadium.
After trailing at half time to James McClean’s deflected strike, it looked like it could be a frustrating afternoon for David Moyes’ men.
Prior to the game, a large section of the West Ham fan base were frustrated to hear that Carroll was starting ahead of Mexican international Javier Hernandez.
But the former Liverpool and Newcastle man silenced his doubters with a fine brace to spearhead the Irons to a spirit-boosting comeback win.
Firstly, he latched onto Aaron Cresswell’s delightful cross and beat Jonny Evans and Kieran Gibbs in the air to level the scores.
And then deep into stoppage time, Carroll popped up at the back post to steer home Marko Arnautovic’s low cross from a tight angle with his weaker foot.
Some West Ham fans were forced to admit they were wrong on social media while others maintained that his inconsistency is still an issue.
Here are how the fans reacted on Twitter to Carroll’s match winning performance.

Only cost us £80k a week for 9 months to get goals out of a sick note striker! Pleased for win tonight but still think we should sell him!
