West Ham have been very active in the transfer market so far this summer and further deals are poised to go ahead, although not all of those will be new arrivals.
The Hammers are also expected to see a number of departures from the squad ahead of the 2018-19 Premier League campaign and a defender has caught the eye of a European giant.
The MirrorĀ states that new Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has identified West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna as a potential target, as the Italian prepares for what will be a difficult debut campaign with the Serie A outfit.
Ogbonna, 30, may find himself surplus to requirements amidst Manuel Pellegrini’s defensive restructure this summer – which has already seen Issa Diop signed for a club-record fee.
A move for Corinthians defender Fabian Balbeuna is also poised to be completed imminently, leaving Ogbonna facing a stern test to secure regular football next season.
