West Ham never fail to entertain and it’s unsurprising that the hunt for a new manager has proven to be extremely messy.

The Hammers informed David Moyes last week his deal would not be extended and it seems that decision led to some bemusement from the Scotsman.

The Sun claim Moyes was shocked by his departure as he was offered an extension to his short-term deal just four weeks ago, suggesting that a major u-turn occurred towards the end of the season.

Moyes was drafted into the London Stadium as Slaven Bilic’s successor in November and achieved his target of keeping the Hammers in the Premier League, though he failed to win the backing of a large chunk of supporters.

Despite that, it seems Moyes had done enough to impress the club’s hierarchy, with both David Sullivan and Karren Brady keen to retain his services, and a new deal was put on the table four weeks ago.

However, Moyes elected to delay a decision until the end of the campaign as he wanted to focus on keeping the Hammers in the top-flight but ended up being dumped at the end of the campaign.
